We often end up with old pieces of furniture that do not fit at all in our place.
We keep them either because they have emotional value and connect us with our beloved past, or because they are considered to be quality pieces and we hesitate to throw them away, or even because we do not have the financial comfort at this time to buy new furniture to be exactly as we want.
Rebuilding an old piece of furniture turns out to be a much more cost-effective solution than buying a new piece of equivalent quality. So before you decide to throw away your old furniture, give them one more chance. In the hands of our experienced furniture makers they can become real works of art.
Patina style is suitable for furniture that is in a relatively good condition and is not broken or humidity damaged. Small problems such as nicks and “peeling” can be fixed by the cabinetmaker. In terms of cabinetmaking, the word “patina” is used to describe painting techniques that, unlike common paint spray guns, are made with brushes and sandpaper, making the furniture dichromatic or even with more than two colors.
The piece of furniture will be well rubbed and then painted with the base paint. We wait until it is dry as needed and then we paint it with the patina color. The craftsman will apply the second color with precise movements using special brushes. To create an “antique” style, the edges and corners of the furniture will be rubbed lightly using thin sandpaper.
The colors and the intensity of the patina style will be your choice, in order the furniture to suit your place and taste.
When the patina procedure is finished, the service life of the furniture is similar to that of any other furniture.
Please ask us any questions about your furniture. We will help you decide whether it is worthwhile to give it the patina style, as well as to choose the colors and the intensity.
